Story
Kanye is a very simple guy who works at his simple job, with his simple clothes, simple car, living in his simple house with his simple wife in his simple town. His wife, Grace, makes the same dry, predictable, seasonless meals every week and they spend weekends doing the same chores, food shopping and relaxing on Sundays.
One day while driving home from work, he sees a lady on the side of the road with a flat tire. He pulls over to help. She doesn't have a spare, phone's dead. Kanye gives this young woman, Kim, his spare and changes it for her. Wanting to repay him, she offers money. He refuses and goes home.
Fast forward to a night after work at the bar. Kanye's excited for the NBA finals and always watches it at the local pub, Mickey's. Kim notices him and approaches him, thanking him again and insisting on buying a beer. She's a real estate representative for Robert Must Estates living in town for a few months. Game's over, she kind of drunk goes to kiss him. Taken back, he tells her he's sorry, he has a wife — but he'll gladly take her home safely. He drops her off and calls it a night.
One Saturday at the supermarket, Kanye bumps into Kim again. It's awkward at first but she apologizes for the way she acted — it's just been a lonely couple of months. She asks for his number and suggests the two hang again sometime.
Time passes and Kanye gets a text from Kim asking if he wants to hang at the bar again for game 3. While there, he wants to let his intentions be known — he doesn't mind being there as a friend, but anything further he can't do. Agreeing to the terms, the two develop an odd bond and begin to hang out for almost every game. He doesn't feel comfortable letting Grace find out about his recent buddy. One Sunday the two decide to check out a winery — Kanye lies to Grace about a golf outing. The two have a blast, end up back at her place, and sleep together. Afterward he apologizes to Kim that he can't do it again.
A couple of weeks pass without contact. He gets a random text from her — nudes. He ignores it, but thinking about it on the drive home, he wants to do it again. He calls her, goes over "to discuss what happened," and they sleep together again. From there it becomes an every-other-day thing.
One night, Kanye admits this is the most fun he's had in his life. Kim jokingly suggests they just run away together. Humoring the idea, he plots it out. Conversation shifts to Kim asking if he loves her. Yes. She doesn't believe it — does he still love his wife? He's spent most of his years with her, he'd like to think he loves her. Kim: if you want to prove you love me, let's run away — leave your wife. Kanye, uncomfortable, gets ready to leave. Kim eases the tension — she's just kidding, wanted to see his reaction. He goes home, eats dinner with Grace. Mid-dinner, Kim texts: but if you really wanted to leave, let's go.
The idea takes root. A couple of weeks go by and he tells Kim he's ready. He'll tell Grace everything that night and meet Kim the next day after work. He goes home and confesses to Grace — he's not in love with her anymore, he's been sleeping with someone else, he's ready to move on. He doesn't mention the leaving-town part, but it breaks Grace's heart anyway.
On his final day at work, Kanye is chipper, counting down the hours, texting Kim all day. He drives to her house. No one answers. He calls — she's not picking up. Kim left. She played him. She's gone. He's left standing there expressionless, realizing the truth.
