Kanye and Karol have been together for a quite some time now. They met awhile ago when she moved to the city as a new co-host radio personale. She had been following his music for awhile and had an interest in speaking with him. Getting a promotion as the main host of the morning show, she wanted and managed to land her first interview with him. They spoke about his music, his upbringing, career goals, rumors, unusual shit you hear on the radio. The conversation was natural and fluid, helping her feel comfortable in her new chair and him feeling comfortable with promoting himself.
Once the interview was over Kanye started flirting with Karol a bit, trying to get her number. At first she was hesitant, but then realized this is the business of communication and exchanged digits with him.
Karol went about her work while Kanye kept doing, rapper things? Idk. Going to the clubs, chillin with his crew, hittin up the studio here and there...rapper things.
One Saturday while shopping with his boys, Kanye bumps into Karol at the mall. Approaching her, he questions why she never texted him and she responds that he never hit her up first. Playing him in front of his entourage, Kanye says she's got a point and if he can make it up to her by taking her out that night. Iffy, then realizing she's been living alone and hasn't really been out in awhile, she accepts the offer.
Fast forward to the evening, he picks up her up and they drive to his favorite restaurant. They crack jokes on each other most of the ride, and then topics get a bit more personal at the restaurant. He says that she knows all there is to know about him and for her to tell him a bit about herself. (Fuck that was a shitload of pronouns.) She goes on to talk about where she's originally from (same Karol from 30 Hours so we know her background), why she got into radio and what her ambitions are moving forward. The vibe is a chill one as they're feeling each other. Not wanting to end the night so early she asks if he can take her somewhere else. Where he asks, she says I don't know, doesn't really matter. Surprise me. Driving around vibing out to throwbacks they pull up to the studio. Thinking she's going to see his creative process and gets into journalism mode, she's then surprised to find artist Yeezus who's been MIA for about 2 years now. He's working on some tracks and wants to keep it low-key. (Yeezus being the Kanye from Waves)
In shock and in awe, Karol just says hello and completely disregards documenting anything. She vibes out with the small group there, witnessing new tracks being laid down. Feeling what's being recorded, Kanye asks if he can get in the booth to contribute a bit. What's then recorded is Post Malone's verse in Fade.
The verse gets recorded, everyone's vibing out in the studio, drinking, smoking and Karol's really loving it all. Kanye ends up dropping her off at her place where she then invites him up. You can guess what happen next.
Bang bang smush smush fuck fuck yeah yeah
Fast forward some more to where we have Kanye and Karol are officially a thing. They have been for sometime and Karol gets affiliated with the city through his perspective. She adapts to the culture he's exposed to her however she doesn't try to be someone she isn't. She grows very attached to him and supportive as he tries to grow his career.
Unfortunately, Kanye is somehow backstabbed by one of his peers that has stuck by him since the beginning, all for some money. Kanye's friend, Justin, stole Kanye's laptop and sold it for $250,000. Kanye, confused and heartbroken by this, goes to vices to distract himself from the damage. On top of doing so, his label has been delaying and curving him in paying him as well as helping him release new music. All this negativity sends him down this deep dark place which Karol helped him get out off in the beginning of their relationship and trying to do so again.
One night Karol gets home late from some shit with promo with the station and Kanye suspects her of cheating. He presses her but she tells him no she was working.
She continues going about her radio business while he stays home drinking and going out clubbing. One night while out he ends up cheating on her and it becomes publicized. Humiliated but knowing he's just going through a rough patch, she tries to stick by, still helping him.
Kanye still suspects her of cheating one night while and ends up hitting her. This just pushes her away but to him it feels like she's fading away like everyone else and everything around him.
The only way he balances out his lows is by going out. The environment is what keeps him warm as he's on a constant high, similar to the vibe of the song.
One night while he's fucked up at the club, he finally hears the song he recorded with Yeezus. Excited, but too drunk to contain himself, he tries jumping on the DJ booth to say that he's featured on the song. Bouncer gives him a warning. He goes to the bathroom to wash his face and comes out dancing to the song some more grinding on a shitload of people. Not completely sober but aware and coherent enough to hold himself up, he goes back to the DJ booth, apologizes and asks if he can play the song back and sing his verse. DJ, realizing who it is, does so and gives him the mic. The song plays and Kanye goes to the dance floor and dancing in the middle of the crowd with a drink in his hand, looking high as a fucking kite, feeling the whole vibe of the song. Movie ends with this scene and the song playing in the background.
